Creating the right layout for your half bath or powder room does not only provide privacy and improve comfort; it can also boost your home’s resale value. Reliable Design-Build-Remodel, an expert bathroom remodeling firm in the Vestavia Hills area, talks about the best locations for a half bath in your bathroom remodel project:

In this post, we talk about some of the ideal locations for a half bath.

End of the Hallway

This part of the house is the least used, making it a great location for an additional bathroom. Often, it contains as much as 30 to 40 square feet of space, which is sufficient for a half bath.

Adjoining Closets

Opened up, back-to-back closets measure more or less four feet by four feet, which is wide enough for a powder room or a half bath. For an accurate measurement of the space, ask your home remodeling contractor to help you.

Laundry Area

Another way to add a bathroom is to carve out space from your laundry room. You can renovate your laundry room and invest in stackable appliances that take up less room. Then, use the extra space to build a half bath or powder room.

Existing Bathroom

Generally, an average sink, toilet and tub need a space of at least five feet by six feet. If you have an existing large bathroom, you can divide it into two to have a separate powder room or half bath.

Under the Staircase

If there are no more vacant rooms in your house, you can use the space under your stairs instead. Just don’t forget to check the headroom before you build your half bath here.
