If you notice cold spots near the windows, it’s because gaps in the sealant are allowing air to pass through. Caulk loses its elasticity as it ages, which leads to cracks and gaps — fortunately, it can be removed and replaced. Weatherstripping can likewise be replaced if damaged.

Water Stains

While water stains are commonly associated with roofing problems, they can indicate problems with the window seals if they’re found on the walls right under the window sill.
