Remodeling Job Stories | Hoover, AL Bath Remodel
I. Project Overview
The Chaffinch’s Hoover, AL bath remodel was a luxurious update, not a complete tear down or remodel, of the shower in the master bathroom!
This was just a good old fashioned shower replacement, featuring the usual suspects of demolition, plumbing and electrical roughs, and installation of wonderful modern tile and hardware selections!
II. Project Timeline
The Barton project ran from late June to early August of 2023. Constant communication and oversight through our project software, Buildertrend, allows all of our clients to be completely aware of all aspects of design and construction from start to finish!

III. Design-Build-Remodel
We began the Chaffinch project as we begin all of our projects, by laying down protective floor mats and commencing to demolition!
The shower was the main focus of the Chaffinch project, and so we began demolition, of course, in the bathroom! We weren’t touching the bathtub in any meaningful way, just giving the shower a much overdue upgrade!
We tore down the original shower tiling, which went up to the ceiling. For its time it was luxury, but times, and tastes, have changed, and there was also additional maintenance to be done in the shower.
This was directly after demolition, at the stage when we began the plumbing rough. Plywood needed to be repaired as well!
We removed the gigantic window that overlooked the bathtub, as some of the needed repairs were located there. In addition, Reliable would be installing a brand new window in its place!
Drywall repair was obviously necessary after we had torn our the window and removed parts of the wall, so soon after, we began the process of rebuilding the shower!
We then proceeded with a flood test for the shower, before then starting on waterproofing and trim work for the shower!
This part of the project took about a week and a half, between installations of the various parts of the new shower!
24×48 CTC luca Oro Polished stone was chosen for the wall tiles, while saten herringbone Locua Oro was chosen for the flooring! We acquired the Oro tile from Isis and Sons, a vendor who Reliable has had a longstanding relationship with going back decades, but here is the website showing the full Oro family of materials!
You can see the herringbone pattern on the floor of the shower! Having the same material, but cut in a different pattern, can make all the difference visually!
The shower was nearing full completion, all that was left were the minor touches!
Reliable installed a brand new window, an Ultra Clear Deadlight Panel from Daviston and Gale Insulation, was the pièce de résistance of this master bathroom remodel.
The Chaffinch project on the whole took two months, but what a difference the new shower makes for the entire space!
IV. Conclusion of the Chaffinch Project
