Remodeling Job Stories | Hoover, AL Bathroom Remodeling
I. Project Overview
Working with Mrs. Shelly Carruba has always been a pleasure, and in 2023 we did two jobs for her, a Master Bathroom Remodel project and a Chimney Repair job! Shelley is a woman of refined tastes, as the pictures of her updated bathroom show.
For her Hoover, AL Bathroom Remodeling project, we installed a new shower, free standing bathtub, cabinetry, and sink hardware. Her chimney repair job was far simpler, and involved a fix to improper roof flashing to prevent wood rot. This page will be dedicated mainly to the bathroom remodel.
II. Project Timeline
Mrs. Carruba’s projects ran from November of 2022 to March of 2023. Constant communication and oversight through our project software, Buildertrend, allows all of our clients to be completely aware of all aspects of design and construction from start to finish!

III. Design-Build-Remodel
Reliable started this Hoover, AL Bathroom Remodeling project by demolishing the floor tiles and original shower and bathtub. One thing that a bad demolition job and a good demolition job have in common is that both make it look like a tank shell hit the room!
Reliable starts every project by installing floor protection for the homes we’ll be working in. Our favorite floor protection is Trimaco X-Board, which has leak resistant protection to prevent any kind of damage from hurting our client’s homes!
Take note of the second picture here, which is what a shower base pan looks like after removal. The material it’s made of is waterproof, and the dark floating bits is just the dust and debris from demolition!
Since everything was completely fine after we demolished, we got to refurbishing!
Mrs. Carruba chose Roca White in Bright, laid in 1/3 brick pattern, grout color-pearl tile for her new shower! These kinds of tiles we also installed for Ms. Scogin’s Bathroom Remodel job, and it’s easy to see why! These tiles give a timeless feel that compliments everything else that went into this bath remodel.
While we were installing the new tiles for the shower, we also took a look at the plumbing and walls for the new sinks, cabinetry, and vanities that would be going into the Master Bathroom remodel!
Reliable had to also do an Electrical Rough to relocate the outlets that were originally placed on the walls, to make room for the new vanities/cabinetry!
New tile flooring was installed shortly after, matching the almost monochrome aesthetic that Ms. Carruba’s remodeling project was going for!
MDF “Select Series” cabinet doors were chosen for the new sinks/vanities on either side of the room, as well as a Sonoma 58 x 32 AcrylX Freestanding Center Drain Bathtub in White with White Skirt.
We also installed a brand new toilet, a Maxwell® 1.28 12″ Rough-In Two-Piece Elongated ErgoHeight™ Toilet. It’s not visible in these pictures, as it’s in a side room of the main bathroom.
The pièce de résistance for this entire project is the champagne bronze hardware for all the faucets in this bathroom. The enclosed shower has a Delta Adjustable Slide Bar / Grab Bar Assembly shower head, for ease of use and access! You can really see how gorgeous and luxurious this project ended up!
IV. Conclusion of the Carruba Project
The Carruba project details how simple elbow grease and good materials can make anyone’s bathroom, or any room in their home for that matter, look and feel like it was made for royalty! This Hoover, AL bathroom remodeling project was one we’ll won’t forget soon!
We also repaired Ms. Carruba’s chimney a few months later, as an improper piece of roof flashing allowed moisture to leak down into the chimney and start a nasty case of wood rot. We have plenty of materials online to help homeowner’s understand wood rot, and the repair was made quickly and effortlessly by out expert tradesmen.
