Remodeling Job Stories | Pelham, AL Interior Renovations
I. Project Overview
Brian and Tammy Hare’s Interior Renovations project was small, but great things come in small packages!
The Hare Project included custom cabinetry and countertop installation for a brand new bar!

II. Project Timeline
The Hare project ran from September to October of 2024. Constant communication and oversight through our project software, Buildertrend, allows all of our clients to be completely aware of all aspects of design and construction from start to finish!

This construction schedule provides a clear, step-by-step roadmap of how a well-organized remodeling project progresses from early planning through final installation. The process begins months before any physical work takes place, emphasizing the importance of preparation. In March, the design drawings were completed and shared, setting the foundation for the entire project. By mid-May, a site meeting focused on cabinet design ensured that layout details aligned with the homeowner’s vision. This was followed by final measurements in June, along with a countertop selection meeting, allowing all materials and specifications to be confirmed before construction began. This front-end planning phase is critical, as it minimizes surprises and keeps the build phase efficient.

III. Design-Build-Remodel – How Did We Get There?
You can see here the original space that was the entire focus of the Hare’s remodeling project, their dining room was in desperate need of some new custom cabinetry and countertops that could uplift the space!

After removing or adjusting all furniture that would impede work, we lay down floor protection throughout the house wherever there could be damage to the house, or anywhere where we would have to drag debris out of the house!
Reliable starts every project by installing floor protection for the homes we’ll be working in. Our favorite floor protection is Trimaco X-Board, which has leak resistant protection to prevent any kind of damage from hurting our client’s homes!
Construction officially kicked off in early September with a coordinated start that included demolition, dumpster delivery, and a pre-construction meeting, all happening at the same time. This shows how multiple tasks can overlap to save time while still maintaining organization. Immediately after demolition, the project transitioned into rough-in work, including plumbing and electrical installations for features like the ice maker and outlets.

These behind-the-walls systems are essential and must be completed before anything visible is installed. An anticipated delay was also built into the schedule, demonstrating proactive planning for potential setbacks, which is a hallmark of a realistic and well-managed project timeline.
Once the rough-in work was completed, the project moved into inspections and then quickly into drywall installation and finishing. After drywall, the walls were primed and received their first coat of paint, signaling the transition from structural work to more aesthetic improvements.
Around this same time, cabinetry was delivered, allowing installation to begin shortly after. Base cabinets were installed first, followed by the creation of a countertop template, which ensures a precise fit for the final product. This sequencing highlights how each step depends on the one before it—accurate measurements and installed cabinetry are necessary before countertops can be fabricated and installed.

By late September, the project began to take its final shape. Countertops were installed, followed by electrical trim-out work such as outlet installation. The schedule also accounted for a brief period when the homeowners were out of town, which can be a strategic time to complete certain tasks with minimal disruption. After this, wall cabinetry was installed, along with additional painting work in the dining room area, specifically the bar wall. Appliance installations, including a 24″ wine cooler and a 15″ ice maker, were carefully slotted into the schedule to align with cabinetry and electrical readiness.
As for the material selections of the project, Brian and Tammy chose Galena cabinetry from Wellborn Cabinet, with the cabinets themselves being painted Sapphire, and the floating shelves painted Glacier White, which pairs perfectly with the Golden Skyline Quartz they selected from Maranatha Granite, Marble and Floors!
As the project moved into October, the focus shifted to finishing details that bring the space together. Cabinet hardware, such as pulls, was installed, followed by the templating and installation of the backsplash. These final touches are often the most visually impactful and signal the completion of the project. Overall, this timeline illustrates a thoughtful and logical progression, from planning and demolition to rough-ins, inspections, installation, and finishing. For homeowners, it provides a helpful look at how a professional remodeling project is carefully sequenced to balance efficiency, quality, and coordination among multiple trades.

IV. Conclusion of the Hare Project
The Hare Project was a wonderfully precise example of how it’s not about the size of a project that matters, it’s about fulfilling the needs and wishes of the homeowner! From early planning and coordination to rough construction, inspections, installations, and final details, the Design-Build-Remodel process reflects a balance of efficiency, craftsmanship, and proactive scheduling.
